So I've been playing the Japanese release of Phoenix Wright 3.

Yeah, the last case (or 2 cases, I suppose if you count the little short one leading into it) is totally satisfying so far. I'm only about half through it, but it's made me lift eyebrows and remember to breathe in spite of the awesome and stuff.

Sorry, totally a fangirl. I'm so glad I picked the first one up a few years ago: I had no idea I'd fall so in love with it. (I blame the internet. :D)

So I caved, couldn't wait any longer, and went ahead and bought book 7.

I've always kinda liked the Remus x Sirius shipping, so I laughed really hard during chapter 11. (cut for spoilers) )

However, it did make my night.

Moving on...

In the last month-and-a-half, I've been retrospecting.

We made it a year on only one car, with only one apartment that we could really stay in, with three horrible roommates, with a rabbit and aquarium. We found a home for that rabbit. We have a corgi. I can pay my own rent. He has a steady job. I have a steady enough job for now. We're paying everything but our insurance.

No idea how I got here, but it's nice.

Oh yeah, and I started playing WoW again. I'm bad. D:

This is a mention of my fantabulous manager Joshua because he keeps complaining that I never post about him and keeps telling me that he checked my FaceBook and nothing says anything about him.

FINE THEN. Take this. SANDWICH.

.....in other news, I figure that a co-worker is just a compulsive liar. It's a nerdy and stupid reason by which I found out, but I think that's what it is. Not that they're untrustworthy, I hope. (I very much hope, because I don't like having to second-guess people while I'm working with them. Jeez. If I'm working with you, you better at least be telling me the truth about work-related things.)

And it's ironic, because I know they were there for the whole "Don't lie to me, don't steal from my store" bit. Hmph. (LIAR SANDWICH.)

Oh well. Just something else that I have to keep checking up on. Whatever. Yay work.

....

Also, I need a life. Maybe some friends to hang out with that won't try to kill me. Because the whole vicious go-to-school-then-go-work-then-come-home-and-play-FFXII cycle is probably not the best thing for me (even though it lets me be a stick-in-the-mud and not have to have a social life which has always suited me just fine and so what if it makes me pull away from people and freak out when in crowds because HAHA I've stopped caring.)

Whatever. I move out in three weeks. You don't have time for a social life when you're saving money for rent.

Got my promotion (finally). :D I'm officially the assistant manager at my store, and get benefits, and make a little bit better money, and get regular raises, and get paid vacation and sick days...

It's sad that we had to let my fellow SGA go (he forgot to open the store, and it's happened before), but we got to move up one of our better GAs, who's going to benefit from this more. It just makes his life easier, and he'll get to see his wife more, and he won't have to keep working his other job.

So... maybe I can officially set a wedding date soon. :D

...and in other (ironic) news, Mark is waaay sick. He didn't get this bug when I had it, and he didn't get it when his roommates had it, and he didn't get it when his coworkers had it... but he spends one day around my brother and he's down for the count.

We have a corner in the store that nobody can really see. It's up by the front windows, so we don't worry about it. PSP games are over there, so most customers don't worry about it either. When we open up the security gates in the morning, the right side of the gate gets pushed into that corner.

Thursday, I went to close the gate, and stuck my hand in something... icky. I just clenched my jaw and closed my eyes and tried not to think anything too extreme.

When I pulled my hand away, however... it was very, very obvious what had happened.

Some sicko had jacked off in the corner.

Happy Valentines' Day, GameStop. It's probably the most action you're ever going to see. (Except for that one time...)

I win life

So today would have been the second day of school, in which I have three classes. My alarm was set at 8 AM so that I could get out of bed in time to get it together for class, while still maximizing my sleep (but not really the utility of my sleep, which is bad economics). I felt horrible, so I just figured I would skip syllabus-day for my 9 AM class, and go to my 10 AM class. I didn't really make that either.

My next class wasn't until 6 PM, so I lounged in the bed and enjoyed blankets thoroughly. Eventually my boss called.

It wasn't that important, but he tacked on something about how it was "nice, considering you don't have school today," to which I smiled and nodded.

When I hung up, I ran to my computer to check the truth of the matter. I then called Mark (who doesn't have class today, but would have had work), and told him how much we win at life.

I haven't had a snow day since my... senior year, I think? I just remember not having to go to FHS for a whole week.

Today, I am playing Final Fantasy XII (as I am way too powered-up for Belias, my co-workers tell me) and watching the first season of Grey's Anatomy, which I snagged from work. (I love the show, but never manage to catch it on TV.) And I hope the rest of my UTT homies are making similar use of their day. (Just maybe not with the same thing.)

Wow. So once upon a time I liked WoW. (These journal entries are getting increasingly negative, I have been noticing.) But then I had to lose sleep for an expansion that I'm not playing at least until the summer when my money gets a little more... free.

Working the Final Fantasy XII midnight release was cake. I was as obsessed as the people who were waiting outside. But WoW? I don't play anymore. All I could do was sympathize, because it was below freezing and icy in Texas. It was dangerous to go out of doors in a car, kinda. It was horrible to have to stand out there, and we tried to help them as much as we could, ringing them up early so we could do a speed line, not kicking them out of the store, but letting them slowly meander back out into the cold before we let them in 2-by-2 at midnight...

But then the nerdfaces in the front of the line decided they needed to stick their heads in and ever-so-eloquently yell "OMG PLZ CAN U LET US IN WE R FUCKING FREEZING :D ONLY 5 MIN LEFT PLZ PLZ PLZZZZZ". I think our responses were something like, "Be glad we're not in Canada! :D" And then we made sure to lock the door. I think someone told the guy something about being thankful we weren't Yankees or something, but I didn't hear the whole thing.

And getting them out wasn't so bad, except that poor Jason didn't know how to ring up a reserve, and it kinda slowed the process down at the beginning. And it did go fast... eventually, but the whole ordeal still took 2 hours.

...Also fun were the people who snuck in without having reserves, trying to convince us to sell a game for which we didn't even have enough copies to cover reserve. They were like junkies or something. :D

And then I had an 8 AM class and wished that it was still Christmas break. The End.

I am sick, my district manager is coming to the store tomorrow and I am in charge (i suppose they're checking how i do as the store's current second-in-command?), and I would really love to have some Cream Tuna on Toast.

I suddenly very much miss my mom. I should call her tomorrow, cause I know I can make that just fine on my own. Maybe. Her gravy is complicated.

work rant cut for BLAAARRARGH. )

So I stayed an hour late at work (off the clock yaargh) and he kept trying to go home early (IF YOU HAVE SCHOOL IN THE MORNING THEN GO TO SLEEP AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME IT'S NOT LIKE I'M KEEPING YOU FOR THAT 40 YEARS THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE IN THE BIBLE BUT REALLY ISN'T SO STOP TELLING ME ABOUT IT.)

I'm gonna go barf. Night.

so mark gave me christmas. The Little Mermaid and Phoenix Wright 2 (japanese version... translation is superb, with the exception of a few typos.) between this and work, no one will be seeing me for a couple of days.

and no. i will not put up spoilers. (i'm just going to sit here and mope.)

...

other notable moments involve the offer of $150 for my pink DS (shortly after receiving PW2, and it was totally not gonna happen in spite of my general kinda goodwill toward poor parents at christmas), getting carded for my first purchase ever, almost crying as i saw the wedding dress i wanted on sale (and having no chance of touching it), rice candy, and getting everyone's christmas bought except for dad's, and i know what i'm getting. :D

we totally snuck off to dallas today and didn't tell my parents. my mom would just have wanted to go with us as we hit every notable area mall and fine fooding place.

so our manager got a better job and we now have a temporary replacement.

our assistant manager put in his two weeks and we all let out a sigh of relief.

one of our employees has already left for another job, another one needs a better job for her school work program, and the other shift manager (like me) has said that he might look for another job if our manager left. (and now our manager has left.)

which leaves our poor temp manager with potentially just me, one employee, and our seasonal guy.

and guess who's the new (acting) assistant manager?

i'm going to go pass out. our store just fell apart.

HEY THIS IS COOL. (well not really but i think it is.)

4chan hacked the Scientology hotline last night.

1 800 FOR TRUTH

instead of the whole mechanical scientology spiel, you'll hear the Fresh Prince theme song.

GO GO GO. i normally am too scared to call the scientologists too, but this is really funny this time. and i promise it's for real.

EDIT (12/14, 10:13 AM: seems someone noticed the change. last night, people were actually answering the phone, and this morning, it just keeps ringing. it was nice while it lasted though.

so since it's popular, i'm gonna jump on the bandwagon too.

the first sentence of the first entry of every month in my journal:

January: I haven't done it yet, so might as well do it while they're watching godzilla.
February: okay.
March: i live an ultra-fantastic life, in which even lack-of-good-diet-based exhaustion makes me feel like i've taken a hit off of a fantastic drug.
April: i have nothing new to report, other than i am living in the twilight zone.
May: whoo boy we must hate ourselves an awful lot.
June: i turned to the dark side this weekend.
July: alrighty.
August: i'm alive, promise.
September: this last couple of days has been really weird.
October: GameStop and EB are starting Wii reserves on Friday morning.
November: so I got a Wii, and have been too busy working to post about it until now.
December: so since it's popular, i'm gonna jump on the bandwagon too.

...that december one is a little like the twilight zone. and maybe i should make fewer one-word sentences.

so I got a Wii, and have been too busy working to post about it until now. :D Mark and I decided a good while ago that instead of Christmas, we would just split the cost of a Wii and make it a gift for both of us, instead of wondering if we were getting gifts that would be okay.

My number is 7569 0322 8786 2405... I need friends! I have awesome Miis! I will draw on any photos you send me! I won't post too many pictures! Promise!

...just make sure I have your number too, so we can, like... be friends together.

.....

No, I haven't gotten to play anything but Wii Sports yet. However, Wii Sports is awesome for multiplayer. Twilight Princess looks awesome... for the five minutes that I've seen. I was just too tired after work last night to get into it.

And Mark says that Red Steel is okay, but it's obviously just the first FPS on the system, and isn't as good as most people would probably have hoped. I checked it out at work yesterday, but we're going to take it back tonight so we can get Rayman or CoD3 or something. (The new Rayman looks freaking hilarious. I love the rabbids.)

i should start keeping my camera in my car. we randomly drove down to galveston, and all i have are some seashells.

it started like any of our random excursions. we thought we should go to palestine, then were duly unimpressed. so we headed down to huntsville, because it was only a half hour away. but then houston was only an hour from there, so we figured there was nothing keeping us from going on... so then we figured galveston was just another 40 minutes away.

mark had never seen the beach before. it was windy and 65 degrees outside. and somehow, it was still really cool.

...the next day, i was sick. (don't eat at the denny's in conroe.)

he didn't have to, but he came over and made me tomato soup and grilled cheese while i crammed for my business law test.

...i'm spoiled. :D

If an employee wants to reserve something, they should have to wait in line like everyone else. I don't care about taking-care-of-your-own or anything like that. If you're serious about something, wake up early, send a parent... or go without.

God forbid. Three systems that won't be going anywhere until 4 or 5 this afternoon, just because of lazy. That's a mom with two kids who'll be sad... then again, that's one less system on eBay.

GameStop and EB are starting Wii reserves on Friday morning. We don't know how many we're getting yet, but we know that reserves are gonna be starting as soon as we open. Nintendo has said, however, that we should be able to fill our reserves. (We just won't reserve more than we'll be getting in the first shipment.) All of the games are already reservable though.

...just in case anyone cared.

(I would have shared about PS3 reserves but it wouldn't have helped, plus a lady I know has an autistic son who wants nothing else for Christmas. She got hers, so I feel fine.)

(And 5 hours ago, I was gonna be one of those people in line for it too, it was gonna be Mark and I's Christmas. But for now, it is more important that he gets a good car.)
